Have you ever wondered why we sometimes get lost in auditing other people’s behavior—analyzing their thoughts, actions, or intentions? I realized recently that this tendency runs deeper than curiosity; it reflects what’s unresolved within us. And for me, it all clicked when I came across a quote by Anaïs Nin: “We don’t see things as they are; we see them as we are.”

This simple quote hit me with an Aha! moment. Every time I audited others—whether I was analyzing their words or actions—it was really a reflection of my own unresolved blockages. The critiques I formed weren’t about them; they were clues about the parts of me that needed understanding.

After this realization, every time I felt the urge to audit someone, I started pausing and asking myself: What within me mirrors this behavior or flaw? What can I learn from it? And so, instead of being a judge of others, I began to use those moments as opportunities for self-reflection and growth.
