
Health is often viewed through a narrow lens—typically focused on the physical body. But true well-being goes beyond that. That’s where the concept of the Total Health Quotient (THQ) comes in.
As an integral part of the Balanced-Life Strategy from the Wisdom Institute for Leadership and Global Advancement (WILGA), THQ helps assess your health at 5 levels to begin with:
- Physical Health: The foundation of our well-being—our strength and the health of our body’s multiple systems as assessed by Doctors.
- Vitality or Energetic Health: This involves the flow of life energy (or prana) through the body which is endurance. Do we have energy until we retire at night? Energetic health is assessed by energy healers.
- Emotional Health: Have we have mastered our emotions and maintain balanced and positive states of mind? This is about how we manage stress and create emotional harmony within us. Emotional Health Is assessed by Life coaches, psychologists and healers.
- Concrete Mind: How well we have developed clarity, focus, and mental agility, and how well honed our higher common sense and logic are.
- Abstract Mind: How is our strategic mind, the principles and philosophies we follow and our ability to grow with creative ideas? It is also our principles in life that guides our decision making – the higher aspect of the mind that can look through to the future.
By assessing these 5 levels, which contributes to our Total Health Quotient (THQ) we can understand where we stand and what needs improvement. From this, we will also be able to reflect on how well we handle the 5 key areas of life: family, career, social, health and spirituality.
Balancing all five levels of health allows us to perform better, endure more stress with balanced emotions and ultimately move towards a more fulfilling life.
